The annual Wreaths Across America celebration at the Montana Veterans' Home takes place on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 10 a.m.
The ceremony will start inside the Montana Veterans’ Home, where ceremonial wreaths will be placed, recognizing all branches of the military and POW/MIAs. Attendees should enter through the south entrance near the cafeteria.
A wreath will be placed on every grave at the Montana Veterans' Home Cemetery as a result of donations by the community. Students will assist in placing the wreaths.
Speakers at the event are Mathew Pickar, U.S. Army veteran of Iraq/Afghanistan; Vitoria Renate, Volunteers of America and Capt. Jenna Schaak from the Kalispell Glacier Army Battalion. Students from the Columbia Falls High School Choir directed by Emily Hackethorn will sing the National Anthem. The chaplain is Father Sean Raftis. Dana Scranton will perform taps.
Once the indoor ceremonies are concluded, the public is invited to place wreaths on the graves at the cemetery.
Steve Armstrong, president of the Glacier Chapter -Montana Society Sons of the American Revolution, will serve as master of ceremonies.
