Description

A free seminar designed to help older adults protect themselves from scams is set for Oct. 21 in Kalispell. Montana Rep. Courtenay Sprunger and Montana Commissioner of Securities and Insurance James Brown are partnering to host Scam Smart: Protecting Seniors from the Newest Scams. The event is two hours. The program will cover the latest scams — from AI-generated phone calls and textphishing to cryptocurrency schemes and investment tricks — and provide practical,easy-to-remember steps to safeguard personal information and finances.“Scams are evolving faster than ever before, and seniors are often targeted first,” saidBrown. “This seminar is about empowering Montanans with the tools

they need to spot fraud, stop it early, and protect their hard-earned security.”

Brown will deliver opening remarks, with additional presentations, real-life scenarios, case studies and resources provided by co-hosts My Glacier Village, Immanuel Living, the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce, and Sprunger.“In conversations with seniors across Northwest Montana, I’ve seen how scams undermine peace of mind and financial security,” said Sprunger. “In a new age of AI and digital currency schemes, this seminar will bring together experts and resources to give our community the confidence to spot fraud early and stop it.”The event is Oct. 21 at 9 a.m. at Immanuel Living’s Auditorium.
