Description
A man awaiting trial for allegedly threatening police officers and a municipal judge is back in the county jail.
Authorities are holding Jeremy Allen Higgins, 47, on $100,000 bail after prosecutors sought to revoke his release on his own recognizance. Higgins repeatedly violated an order of protection issued by the Kalispell Municipal Court, according to a petition filed in Flathead County District Court in late September.
Higgins is scheduled to go on trial in the latter court at the end of October on a felony charge of threats in official matters and misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct, criminal trespass, obstructing a peace officer and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia. He pleaded not guilty at his July 17 arraignment before Judge Paul Sullivan.
Higgins picked up the charges after allegedly making the threats during his June 12 arrest near Woodland Park. Authorities sought Higgins after bystanders reported him yelling and throwing trash at about 9:30 p.m., court documents said.
Higgins allegedly fled on a bicycle after officers arrived. Ditching it, he ducked into a nearby bar and entered the bathroom, court documents said.
During his subsequent arrest, Higgins threatened to kill an officer's family and "put one" in the head of a municipal court judge, according to court documents.
He also said he would direct "criminal friends and drug dealers" to target law enforcement personnel, court documents alleged.
