Description
Flathead Valley Community College’s nursing program will honor its current classes of 12 Associate of Science in Nursing graduates and 10 practical nursing graduates during a traditional pinning ceremony Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 3:30 p.m.
Anyone is welcome to attend the ceremony located in the Arts & Technology Building Room 139 on campus in Kalispell.
FVCC ASN students study five semesters total to complete 72 credits and 495 hours of clinical work to achieve their degree.
FVCC Associate of Science in Nursing graduates are Dylan Baker, Devon Blades, Hannah Hutchins, Sam Jones, Anna Johnson, Josh Johnson, Andrea Lopez, Josh Ochen, Katya Podlipaeva, Sara Sheedy, Missy Simula and Kyle To.
FVCC practical nursing students study three semesters total to complete 41 credits and 270 hours of clinical work to achieve their certificate of applied science. FVCC Practical Nursing graduates are Sarah Calhoun, Judy Carnahan, Roxanne Carroll, Mike Cullen, Amelia Greenfield, Ben Hruby, Natasha Kauffman, Phill Padgham, Maddie Smith and Mia White.
All students must pass their respective national licensing exams (NCLEX-RN or NCLEX-PN) after they graduate before they can begin working as nurses. The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) develops the NCLEX exam to test the competency of nursing school graduates across the U.S. and Canada.
These nurse pinning ceremonies induct graduates into the highly respected profession of nursing and provide them with the first opportunity to build a sense of community with their peers and nursing faculty as they begin their journey toward becoming registered nurses or licensed nurse practitioners.
FVCC nursing programs have limited enrollment capacity, necessitating a competitive applicant selection process. All graduates are to be commended for their commitment to completing a fast-tracked, academically rigorous curriculum that leads to employment in a high-demand workforce and highly rewarding careers.
