Description

City Hall is soliciting applications from residents interested in taking a soon-to-be vacant Ward 3 seat on Kalispell City Council.

The seat opens up in January when Ryan Hunter assumes the position of mayor. Hunter, who is serving in his second four-year term on Council, beat out fellow Councilor Sid Daoud and Kalispell entrepreneur Kisa Davison for the top job in November's municipal election.

Those seeking to replace Hunter on Council must submit a letter of interest to City Hall that includes the following information: name; address; phone number and email address; relevant experience; signature; and a brief explanation of their interest in the position. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and have been established in Ward 3 for a minimum of 60 days.

Ward 3 runs roughly from Center Street in the north to 10th Street in the south. It extends slightly beyond Woodland Avenue to the east and down Appleway Drive and Foys Lake Road to the west. A map of Kalispell's wards is available online via Flathead County's GIS Department. Users can navigate to the city's mayor and city council webpage at kalispell.com/184/Mayor-City-Council and scroll down view ward map section.

Officials reminded potential applicants that job duties include regular attendance at Council's meetings, which typically occur at 7 p.m. on Mondays, and can expect to review relevant materials on a weekly basis. The individual appointed to the seat by the mayor and Council will finish out the remaining two years of Hunter's term.

Applications are public record and can be reviewed by the public. Applications, which are due by Jan. 4, can be addressed Attn: City Clerk, City of Kalispell, 201 First Ave. E., Kalispell, MT 59901 or Attn: City Clerk, City of Kalispell, P.O. Box 1997, Kalispell, MT 59903. Applications also can be emailed to [email protected].

For more information, contact the City Clerk's Office at 406-758-7756 or email [email protected]
